Community

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Donors make it happen!

Without your generosity the Public Software Foundation could not function. With heart felt gratitude we sincerely want to thank you for your help.

There are several ways to help. The first is to obtain Public Software Foundation titles and donate them to libraries. Whether it be your local library, other libraries in your area, or around the world, every single software donation puts quality public software within the reach of hundreds or thousands of people.

What happens when libraries receive donated software?

If you send a donation through On-Disk.com you have the choice of having the package delivered to you, or directly to the library of your choice. Each package will be clearly marked "Library Donation", and contain an informational letter to familiarize the library with the PSF, and public software. It will also contain contact information so they may contact us with any questions they may have.

If you obtain a "Donation Kit" it will contain the printable informational letter, which which should be printed and sent along with every donation package you create.

Public Software Foundation titles are packaged in full size DVD cases with information directing anyone wanting more information or assistance using the software to visit the "Resources" section of this site. For libraries this means they can simply catalog any PSF title and put it on the shelf, just as with any new publication.

In areas where there is a "Volunteer Curator", libraries will inform Curators of new PSF donations so they can maintain them along with the other donated PSF titles in the library system.
